About Marla B Shapiro, PhD
Dr. Shapiro is a licensed psychologist and nationally certified school psychologist. She will work with an athlete's primary care physician, allied health care professionals and coaches as needed in order to evaluate the effects of the concussion, develop a comprehensive concussion management plan, and determine when it is safe for the athlete to return to sports. Every effort is made to see concussion patients as soon as possible, including same-day and weekend appointments. Dr. Shapiro is available to work with schools, teams and leagues to implement on-site baseline testing programs. In addition to concussion management, Dr. Shapiro’s practice also provides comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations, advocacy, consultation, and intervention.
Community Work and Involvement
Over the past few years, Dr. Shapiro has given a number of talks regarding sports-related concussions to local high school and recreation league players, parents, coaches and certified athletic trainers.
