ImPACT History:

Our staff is very experienced in using ImPACT. Dr. Sergio Buzzini completed a fellowship at U. of Pittsburgh - U. Health Center of Pittsburgh 2003, then U. of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, NC 2004 before coming to Geisinger. Dr. Buzzini is board certified in pediatrics, adolescent medicine, and sports medicine. After completing a Family Practice residency at Geisinger, Dr. Matthew McElroy completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Saint Vincent Health System - Erie, PA 2005, before returning to join the staff at Geisinger. Dr. David Ross is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Sports Medicine. Dr. Ross is the Director of the Sports Medicine Fellowship at Geisinger. Dr. Ross has provided care for high school, collegiate, and professional athletes with concussion and post-concussive symptoms. Dr. Ross has served as Medical Director of the Exercise Performance Laboratory at the University of Texas at Arlington; Medical Director of the USA Weightlifting World Team Trials in Irving, Texas; Medical Director for the 2000 US Olympic Triathlon Trials and Wrestling Trials; ring-side physician for ESPN Fight Nights; rodeo physician for PBR and Mesquite Championship Rodeos; and more. He is team physician for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers and Misericordia University. Dr. Heather Hoover has been at Geisinger since 2001, completing a fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology with a focus on pediatrics. Dr. Heather Hoover and Dr. Bradley J. Wilson are both board-certified by the American Board of Professional Neuropsychology. Dr. Hoover specializes in pediatric neuropsychology whereas Dr. Wilson specializes in adult neuropsychology. Dr. Wilson participates in the concussion program, trauma service/neuropsychological consultation, rehabilitation, and sleep medicine. All are competent in the evaluation of pediatric concussions/head injuries and are experienced in using ImPACT.

Dr. Ross served as editor of a textbook 'Expert Guide to Sports Medicine.' One of the chapters is on neurological conditions in athletes.
