About Smaritan North Family Physicians

Samaritan North Family Physicians, located at Samaritan North Health Center, is a group of 5 family physicians that specialize in comprehensive care for our patients. In addition to his primary Board Certification in Family Practice, Dr. Barrow is also Board Certified in Sports Medicine. The care of adolescents and athletes comprises over half of his practice and he delivers a wide range of services to his adolescent patients. This includes complete, non-surgical sports medicine management of illnesses and injuries as well as sports physicals, counseling, and other adolescent services.

In an effort to best meet the needs of athletes, Dr. Barrow usually is able to see acutely injured athletes the day that they call. In addition, Dr. Barrow maintains a large supply of a variety of the more commonly utilized splints. Also, special bracing orders can be accommodated with most braces arriving in 24-48 hours.

Samaritan North Health Center is the medical office building that houses the practice. This health center offers immediate lab and x-ray services as well as advanced testing such as MRI's, bone scans, CT scans, etc. In addition, a large rehabilitation facility is located in the health center. In this way athletes are able to obtain all of their care in one building.

ImPACT History:

In an effort to provide a higher level of concussion care to its athletes, Northmont High School (Clayton, OH) chose to purchase the ImPACT program and implement it in the fall of 2004. All football players were tested for a baseline and all others had the opportunity for testing. Next year, all athletes will be required to establish a baseline. The program has been well received by the athletes and is well managed by the head athletic trainer (Greg Behrens). Coaches, athletes and parents are all very pleased with the implementation of ImPACT and all believe that it has favorably affected concussion management at the high school.

ImPACT testing will become available directly in the office of Dr. Barrow for follow-up of concussions.
